Is running the best way to lose weight?

Here’s my opinion on the topic: Running sucks. (There, I said it.)

Now, if you’re someone who truly enjoys running for its own sake – the runner’s high, endorphins, blah, blah, blah… Good for you. I love that you love it. But I’m not talking to you.

I’m talking to those of you who think you need to run to lose weight/get fit/be healthy. You need to let that go.

In fact, forget everything you THINK you know from watching Rocky. You do NOT have to run to lose weight. Unless you are being chased or are trying to catch a bus, running just isn’t necessary. Running for fitness? It. Just. Sucks.

Did you know? Running is THE most injurious exercise in this country, and unless you have been properly trained in it, I would never suggest that you start running to achieve your fitness goals. News flash: you CAN develop high-level fitness WITHOUT slogging it out for three miles or more, and WITHOUT putting all that stress on your joints.

In today’s podcast, I will share how these TWO activities will reduce your risk of injury and help you achieve your fitness goals.

  1. Walking. I’ll share how this simple activity is good for more than just getting from point A to point B.

 AND

  1. Hill sprints. I’ll show you why this is SO much smarter than plain old running. And I’ll give you step-by-step instructions on how to get started.

Both of these activities will help you achieve your fitness goals faster and more safely than killing yourself on those long runs.

If you’re ready for a better way to lose weight instead of running, listen to today’s podcast for advice and ideas on how to walk – and sprint – towards better physical fitness.
