Often, you’ll hear it referred to as a beer belly, but we can’t blame it all on the alcohol. So, if it isn’t caused by just a few too many beers…
How do we NOT gain belly fat?
Before we get into that, it’s important to understand where belly fat comes from.
When we put calories in our mouths, the calories are used to fuel our muscles. Whatever calories we don’t burn through exercise become subcutaneous fat, just below the skin.
At a certain point, however, visceral fat begins to form. This next-level type of fat surrounds your organs. For most men, visceral fat is stored in the belly.
At the next stage, fat begins to build up in your organs, like your kidneys and liver. When organ fat is present, those organs will no longer function as efficiently as they once did. In fact, organ fat can eventually kill you.
