Do you need to go on a sugar detox? How would you even know if you did? What if you could do it in a way that gets rid of the sugar cravings AND keeps the weight off?
I know, I know. I’ve talked a lot of trash about detoxes. But we aren’t talking about some banana-peel master cleanse where you need to buy a bunch of supplements in order to get the right results.
News Flash: your body is actually detoxifying itself all the time. It’s called autophagy. It happens while you’re asleep or when you’re fasting. Your body does it naturally with the help of your liver and kidneys.
So don’t worry – I’m not saying you need to buy supplements. What I am saying is that we need to help our bodies naturally detox in a very specific way.
So, how would you know if you need to go on a sugar detox?
Look for these three signs.
- If you’re having cravings at around 10 am or 3 pm (between meals)
- If you’re searching for sweets on a regular basis
- If you are feeling full and you still want chocolate (or anything sweet)
Your body will send you signals that it’s time to eat. But did you know that a diet high in sugar can actually hijack those signals? (Not to mention increase inflammation, cholesterol, stress, bloating and insomnia!)
There are lots of science-y reasons this happens, and I will back it all up on the podcast.
Bottom line: a diet high in sugar will make your body crave more sugar even after meals. But did you know that the opposite of a high sugar diet is a high fiber diet? It’s true. High-fiber diets lead to better sleep, lessen inflammation, and they help lower stress and cholesterol.
But what about those of us who’ve eaten like teenagers our whole lives? Is it too late? Not at all! In today’s video, I’ll walk you through the basics of a 5-day sugar detox. It’s easier than you think to detox from sugar!
If you need more convincing that higher-fiber, low-sugar diets are better for you or if you want to learn more about sugar detoxing, listen to today’s podcast!
