Are there certain people in your life that seem like everything they touch turns to gold? Everything they do succeeds. Do you feel like you’re watching from the sidelines, wishing you were in the game scoring countless touchdowns just like them?

Are you wondering how to harness that kind of success in your world AND get the results you really want in fitness, your finances, and your family? 

It’s time to get off the sidelines. I firmly believe that everything you want is on the other side of putting in the work. Those people in your life that seem to create gold everywhere are successful because they’re committed to the results they want and they’re willing to push through the hard things to get there. 

An Unshakeable Mindset of Success: Know Your Why

The best place to start to create an unshakeable mindset is understanding your WHY. Yes, you have fitness goals, but so what? You need to dig deeper. Why do you want to lose 20 pounds? Why do you want to lose your love handles? 

For example, try this: I want to lose 20 pounds to get more energy to show up for my business with more clarity and mental focus, and to be present for my family (with less irritation) at the end of day. That WHY is going to carry you a lot farther, especially when your fitness journey gets hard (and boring) than simply wanting to lose twenty pounds. 

Developing a deep connection to your WHY is the first step to big results.

An Unshakeable Mindset of Success: Choose Hard

Did you know that there are ten times more pillows in America than there are people? Yeah, it’s a wacky statistic but it’s indicative of a larger problem. We LOVE to be comfortable. Look, I like a soft pillow as much as the rest of you, but we avoid hard things like the plague. The problem with that is when you avoid challenges, you don’t develop the fortitude you need when hard things come, and they inevitably will.

One of my favorite quotes is from Henry Rollins: 

The only time you define your character is when you go without. In times of hardship you find out what you’re made of and what you’re capable of. If you’re never tested than you’ll never define your character.”

This doesn’t mean you have to walk 10 miles to the grocery store everyday, but it does mean if you had to, you’d be prepared to do it.

Can you decide to do the hard thing and make working out *not something you do*, but *who you are*? That way on the days when your motivation is low, you can somehow still make it happen because it’s just the type of person you are.
