STRESS – you might be experiencing a lot of it right now, especially since it’s TAX SEASON.

I don’t know about you, but this time of year feels like a stressful mix of deadlines, too many forms, and extra time commitments.

Stress is bad enough on its own, but did you know that stress can cause belly fat?

Wait, what!? It’s true.

There’s actually a new study from Yale University and it’s all about how stress can cause belly fat. High-stress levels affect your body’s production of cortisol, a hormone your body already makes. If you’re feeling really stressed out about something, your cortisol levels get higher and higher – and cause your body to hold onto belly fat.

Even if you don’t normally store fat in your abdominal area, when you’re stressed – like during tax season – all that extra cortisol causes fat to get stored under your abdominal skin and muscle! And the more belly fat you’re carrying, the higher your cortisol levels go.

It’s a vicious belly-fat-storage stress cycle!

So how do we get out of the cycle? The first thing you need to do is try to reduce stress. I’m not giving you a pass on tax season, but there are several great ways to combat cortisol production and mitigate the effects of stress on your body.

In this week’s video, you’ll learn:

  • Which exercises are BEST when you’re stressed.
  • Why meditation and mindfulness can help keep cortisol levels in check.
  • How coffee and other stimulants might actually be working AGAINST you when you’re stressed.

Along with that, I’ll share some easy suggestions for relaxation.

If you want to learn how to reduce stress and lower your cortisol levels, this video is for you.
