Strategies For Making Changes That Last

Circle up, kids, it’s storytime! And this story is all about yours truly.

Growing up, I was a pretty skinny kid. (How skinny? At my high school graduation, I was 6’4” and weighed 155 pounds.)

One day, when I was 13, I was home alone when someone broke into our house.

I grabbed a steak knife from the kitchen and ran upstairs. I hid under my bed as I listened to my family’s home being invaded. I remember thinking that if anyone put their face down there, I was ready to stab it. But, I was terrified.

That event, and those feelings of powerlessness to protect myself and my house really left a mark on me. They have been a driving force in my pursuit of fitness.

I hope most of you guys out there never had a reason to hide under your bed with a steak knife. But you might have been in a situation where you felt that your power has been taken away from you.

When that happens, you’ll do anything to get that back.

But what do you do when you get to that point, and you’re ready for lasting change – and nothing seems to make a difference? Maybe you’re like me – you’re that skinny guy who just can’t gain muscle.

Or maybe you’ve jumped into some radical diet and exercise plan that seemed to work for a minute but before long, you’re burned out and you’re right back where you started?

Trust me, I’ve been there.

If you want to hear more about my transformation, how I gained 36 pounds of muscle before losing 14 pounds of fat, listen to today’s podcast.

Here’s what else we’ll talk about if you’re looking for lasting change like I was:

  • Start to think long term. Do you really think you’ll get lasting change by eating tofu and kale for a month?
  • Be consistent! When you try something new, are you giving it a fair shot? Or do you make little tweaks after just a few days?
  • Are you wearing yourself out just THINKING about being healthier? Save your mental energy for your family and your career – I’ll show you how to outsource certain aspects of your fitness.

Are you ready for lasting change? What are your goals?

Maybe you don’t have a “steak knife under the bed” story, but I bet you have a reason you want to build muscle, burn fat, and finally meet those fitness goals.
